Rewriting Salt Lake County Geocoding Application
Introduction:The objective of the project was to rewrite Salt Lake County geocoding API. This project includes two parts, build new geocoders and write new geocoding API. The datasets would be used in the geocoder part were county boundary, zip code, address points, parcels, centerline, and street intersection coordinates. Geocoders were the necessary foundation for a geocoding application. After finishing this project, the data of Salt Lake County geographic information could have a better integration, and public users could use geocoding API to find a location in Sale Lake County through a described address.
Method and Result:Using knowledge learn from project management class to design a project. The content of the project should have at least six knowledge areas. There are ten knowledge areas total, they are project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communications, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management. I chose scope, time, cost human resource, communication, and integration management in my project.
Skills(Project Design): This project focused on developing a project plan, which includes define and collect requirements to achieve project goals, objectives, and deliverable. Designed a project charter before start of the project, designed WBS and Gantt Chart to perform time, communication, and human resource management. Know how to analyze cost and benefit in cost management, prepared reports for closing activity, managed time in the project, and used similar project to analyze budgets.
